When
August 2022 — November 2022
When I started, the company had just begun to migrate their 300 page marketing website from Squarespace to a custom build on Webflow. When I stepped in, about 60% of the pages were in a half-converted state where at least some part of the page was missing some functionality whether it was a button that didn’t link anywhere or an embed that was missing. My role was leading the completion of that transition and making the migration as seamless as possible for every team involved.
With a startup, you often are asked to be responsible for a variety of different tasks and while Subsplash is a growing team, the team spread their talents across a lot of different projects. My title was Product Designer but my day to day work was very involved in the actual editing of the Webflow site. While I would never argue that working in Webflow is equivalent to doing full frontend development, being the one executing on the designs in this way helped give me perspective on how to design for web and product.
Separately, I also designed and developed a system within Webflow for the marketing team to upload and customize ebooks that could be read fully within the Subsplash website on both desktop and mobile as opposed to being something they could only download or open in their email. This allowed other team members from a variety of different functions to write, add images to, and create ebooks for Subsplash customers to glean wisdom from.
